The Elizabeth Line is the most significant addition to London’s transport network in a generation, and a perfect example of a transformational transport project. The new railway runs for more than 100km through central London – from Shenfield and Abbey Wood in the east to Reading and Heathrow in the west. With 155 million passenger journeys in the first year of operation, and at least 200m in the second it has re-shaped life and travel in London and the South East through the provision of reduced journey times, additional capacity, and new connections with other services, transforming accessibility and improving economic prospects.

This special event will explore in detail the way the line was planned, developed, financed and introduced during an era of changing travel behaviour and transport policy objectives and highlights some of the emerging socio-economic outcomes. Many of the experiences, impacts and lessons learnt are likely to be invaluable to the development of projects elsewhere in the UK - and beyond - including what has been learnt from the demand forecasting, business case development and user response monitoring processes.

Who should attend

  • People from the transport planning and service delivery sector, particularly those working on transformational projects

  • Others with an interest in urban development and how the Elizabeth Line is reshaping and regenerating London, and its emerging socio-economic impacts

We are thrilled to announce that all attendees of this event will enjoy complimentary access to the renowned London Transport Museum before the event kicks off!

Who you will hear from

  • The event will be addressed by transport professionals from within TfL, and others with related expertise in the evolution and development of the Elizabeth Line

  • The content has been designed for those in mid-career and beyond who have responsibility for transformational transport programmes and the opportunity to apply lessons learnt from the Elizabeth Line

  • A special look will be taken at tools developed to capture and measure the passenger impacts, and what would we like data to tell us about the passenger response to new and evolving transport networks in the future

Given the limited availability for this event, we encourage representatives from local authorities and the public sector to apply for a complimentary sponsored place.
